For several hours on Thursday, students at thousands of schools were unable to access Canvas, a learning platform that universities and K-12 schools alike rely on to compile study materials, check grades and submit assignments, due to a cyberattack. The hacking group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for the breach, posting a ransom note that claimed the group had obtained data from the schools and would leak it unless a settlement was paid.
